What is true is that years of experience in a kitchen both professionally and personally (Chef Antonio cooks for his five children!) is that Antonio has a keen understanding of and appreciation for quality ingredients and knows how to use them in ways that truly showcase and enhance their inherent flavours. A born Vancouverite, Ashley Baird has been with our company for the past 13 years. Starting as a Deli Clerk at our Yaletown store in 2002, Ashley quickly worked her way up the company, and took over as Deli Operations Manager in 2014.
Ashley is passionate about using fresh organic, local and fair trade ingredients in all of our deli recipes. When sourcing our high quality deli meats and cheeses, Ashley always does her best to source from small local businesses and farms. If you’re looking for someone to thank for Choices’ consistently fresh, local organic produce, look no further than Dave Wilson. Born and raised in Vancouver, Dave began his journey with us on the floor of our Kitsilano store’s produce department in 1994 and has since worked his way to the position he holds today.
Through his twenty plus years in the retail produce industry, Dave has helped shape our core values and purchasing strategies as a company. Dave is the reason we believe in BC farmers first and ethical sourcing programs. This dedication to fair trade products has led to Choices Markets winning Fair Trade Canada’s National Retailer of the Year from 2010 to 2014. Dave’s also a member of the local food community as a volunteer with Fair Trade Vancouver, creator of the Pennies for Peru Flood Relief Program, a council member of the Vancouver Food Policy Council and a former Steering Committee member of FarmFolk CityFolk.
Through Dave, we’ve pursued many active partnerships with small BC producers to form innovative programs to support the growth of our local industry. Dave has personally visited almost 100 local and international growing operations and frequently organizes farm tours for our store level management. These visits are essential for strengthening our relationships with the people who grow the food you choose to put on your plate.

Mike Evans is the man in charge of our Wellness department. It’s a challenging role, as he has to stay on top of a constantly changing market. Not only are new health care advances being found almost daily, staying on top of constantly changing government regulations can be challenge. Somehow, Mike stays ahead of it all to provide you with the latest in natural health products.
Mike started his career with Choices Markets over 25 years ago, before we had even opened our doors for the first time. He believes in the power of education, and that’s why whenever you ask one of our in store wellness professionals a question, they’ll be able to talk with you about the latest advances in natural health. Mike is currently continuing his own education by attending distance courses at Athabasca University to obtain his degree in business administration.

Is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, with years of experience working in the natural products industry. Bonnie comes from Hong Kong, and now working for Choices Markets, she hopes to spread nutrition knowledge to the Chinese community in the Lower Mainland.
Bonnie has been participating in workshops and cooking classes for seniors and families in a volunteer basis, showing them how to maintain healthy and balance diet with sustainable source of foods. She enjoys cooking and loves to share healthy cooking and meal preparation methods. She’s also passionate about sustainable eating, and does everything she can to promote the sustainable lifestyle with her community.

D’Arcy Furness, BA, RHN
Is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (Canadian School of Natural Nutrition). D’Arcy believes wholeheartedly in embracing the positive power of change at any time in our lives. D’Arcy is passionate about helping people simplify meal planning and to shift their “eating paradigm” and discover their best eating plan to achieve and maintain a healthy weight without dieting. In addition to her nutrition training, she holds a BA in Political Science, a Marketing Management Certificate from BCIT and extensive business experience in the telecommunications industry. She is very interested in the politics of food and how the development and implementation of public nutrition and health policies affect us.
With a sense of fun she is able to pull from a variety of disciplines to effectively and enthusiastically educate and inspire people to help them achieve their nutrition goals. D’Arcy is holistically inclined, grounded in science, and firmly believes that nothing is as important as good nutrition and a healthy food supply for our own optimal functioning and for the health of our planet.

Is a registered holistic nutritionist, graduating from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and the faculty of psychology at Simon Fraser University. By combining her knowledge of psychology and nutrition, Elizabeth has found her passion for helping people achieve both their physical and mental health goals. She firmly believes that fresh foods in their natural state provide the foundation for this. Elizabeth enjoys spending time in the kitchen, experimenting with local ingredients and creating new recipes for her local farmer’s market blog. Jess is passionate about education, prevention and creating a healthy community. In her spare time she updates her personal food blog where she discusses hot topics in nutrition.
She loves working with kids and parents helping them create a positive relationship with food and enjoys discussing sustainable farming practices to anyone who will listen! If Jess is not talking about food you will find her outdoors either hiking or rock-climbing with her dog. Nadine is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist who has been in the industry for the past 3 years. Nadine‘s love of food has come from her background as an athlete and coach. While studying for a kinesiology degree, Nadine found that proper nutrition contributed more than anything to her training, and switched her focus to become an RHN. She’s now training to conquer a marathon and using her skills in the kitchen to help her compete. A local Vancouverite who graduated with honours from the University of British Columbia’s Food Nutrition and Health program. Sea is a Registered Dietitian who also currently works as a clinical dietitian at St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver, where she provides evidence-based, patient- and family-centered nutrition management and education for patients and residents.
Sea’s nutrition philosophy is one that emphasizes balance; she truly believes that all foods can be enjoyed in moderation and values a healthy relationship with food. As a supporter of making sustainable food choices, she encourages her clients to eat foods that are harmonious with the seasons as well as the surrounding environment.

Since completing his butcher’s apprenticeship in New Zealand, Rob has continually worked in the meat industry for over 40 years. He re-located to Canada in 1982 and has been a member of the Choices team since 2002. Rob’s breadth of knowledge and experience is completely invaluable as he coaches and supports our team of meat experts.
Though Rob might have come to us from the opposite corner of the world, he’s a huge supporter of local products. He truly believes in supporting our BC farmers, and will always source BC first. Thanks to Rob, in our meat case you can always find grass-fed or -finished beef, free range or specialty poultry, and pork from pigs that are kept happy in a family unit.
In Rob’s search to bring you the highest quality ethically raised meats, he visits each and every farm he sources from regularly. He feels it’s his responsibility to see how our partners treat their animals first hand so that he can pass that assurance on to you.
