Today, July 19, is Grocery Heroes Day – a time for Choices Markets and the entire food industry to recognize team members at every level for the work you do feeding families and enriching lives.
The food and grocery industry is a critical piece of Canadian society. We are the cornerstone of our local communities and when Covid-19 shut the rest of the world down, we stayed open to keep our communities healthy and well-fed.
With the ever-changing policies and safety standards, managing stress has been difficult for all of us at times. Grocery Heroes, you have all dealt with this situation admirably and we commend you for your professionalism.
As you worked tirelessly to keep everyone healthy, safe and physically distanced, you came to work to keep shelves stocked and to provide communities with essential services that have helped them survive and thrive. You have helped maintain the critical pipeline of food and health supplies that sustain the health and well-being of our customers. You should feel proud.
