The Opportunity
The Human Resources Manager for Choices Markets will provide full-spectrum HR support to our 11 retail locations. In this role, you’ll be the key point of contact for providing day-to-day HR support, coaching, and guidance to our store and leadership teams. You’ll lead core generalist functions like employee relations, performance management, recruitment, and development, while helping to bring structure and consistency to our HR practices. Working closely with HR partners at Pattison Food Group, you’ll also contribute to larger organizational initiatives, while ensuring the needs of our people at the store level are supported with care and clarity.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary HR partner for all Choices Markets locations, providing practical and timely HR support across the full employee lifecycle.
- Provide coaching and guidance on employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance conversations
- Lead and support recruitment, onboarding, and training programs
- Help improve and maintain consistent HR processes across the banner
- Ensure compliance with employment standards and internal policies
- Support workforce planning, engagement, and retention strategies
- Support internal development and succession efforts by helping leaders identify and grow talent within their teams
- Support various administrative functions, such as policy/procedure development & implementation, employee file maintenance, drafting & delivering communication memos, etc.
- Manage investigations and the resolution of more complex employee relations issues, escalating when appropriate
- Compile and analyze HR Metrics.
- Partner with payroll and operations teams to ensure smooth people processes
- Work closely with the Operations team to provide practical HR guidance and support
- Partner with the Pattison Food Group to align broader strategies and leverage shared resources where possible.
- Other duties, as assigned.
You Bring
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or advisory role
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Strong generalist background, with hands-on experience in employee relations, coaching, recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Thorough knowledge of BC employment law and HR best practices.
- Strong technical and analytical skills with experience collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information with accuracy and efficiency.
- Experience supporting retail, hospitality, or multi-site operations is a strong asset.
- CPHR designation (or in progress) preferred
